East Kent Morris Men were founded in 1953 as part of the Coronation celebrations by members of the International Folk Dance Group in Folkestone.

Over the 50 years of its existence, the side has been involved in maintaining two important local events:
Spring Bank Holiday at Charing and Canterbury Hop Hoodening
